๐Ÿ“Œ POSITION INFORMATION

  • Position: Field Assistant Volunteer

  • Organization: Timor-Leste Matak no Azul

  • Duty Station: Dili, with frequent travel to Municipalities

  • Reports To: Partnerships and People Coordinator

  • Vacancies: 1

  • Duration: Six (6) months (extendable based on performance, project needs, and funding)

  • Expected Start Date: 5 August 2026 (Mid-August 2026)

๐Ÿ“– BACKGROUND Timor-Leste Matak no Azul is a youth-led environmental initiative that leverages digital storytelling, creative media, and community engagement to promote climate action and environmental sustainability throughout Timor-Leste. The project empowers young people to become environmental advocates by strengthening their skills in digital communication, storytelling, and community mobilization.

๐Ÿ“‹ SCOPE OF WORK & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the Field Assistant Volunteer will undertake the following:

A. Community Engagement and Mobilization

  • Support the organization of community meetings, workshops, campaigns, and awareness sessions.

  • Mobilize youth, schools, community members, and local stakeholders to participate in project activities.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with government representatives, youth organizations, community leaders, and partner institutions.

  • Promote inclusive participation of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in project activities.

B. Project Implementation

  • Assist in implementing project activities in accordance with approved work plans and schedules.

  • Support participant registration, attendance management, and beneficiary documentation.

  • Assist in distributing educational materials and project resources.

  • Ensure activities adhere to organizational standards and safeguarding policies.

C. Digital Advocacy and Communication

  • Assist in producing digital content, including photographs, short videos, testimonials, and social media materials.

  • Support online awareness campaigns promoting environmental protection and youth participation.

  • Document project success stories, lessons learned, and community voices.

D. Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation

  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data using approved monitoring tools (surveys, interviews, observations).

  • Maintain accurate project databases, beneficiary records, attendance sheets, and photographic documentation.

E. Logistics and Administration

  • Support logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, campaigns, and field visits.

  • Assist in managing project equipment, materials, and filing systems.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator.

๐ŸŽ“ QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Completion of Senior High School (Grade 12) is required.

  • (Note: Higher education qualifications like Diploma or Bachelor's degree are welcome but NOT mandatory. All educational backgrounds are welcome.)

Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) month of relevant experience through volunteering, internships, community engagement, project support, or youth leadership.

  • Previous experience with NGOs, youth organizations, or environmental initiatives is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms, digital communication, and smartphone photography/videography.

  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet).

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites across Timor-Leste.

  • Valid motorcycle driver's license (Required).
