PRO EMA (Empowerment Program for Women and Adolescents) is one of Timor-Leste's leading non-profit organizations dedicated to empowering women and young people through vocational education, entrepreneurship, and social enterprise.
Since its establishment in 2018, PRO EMA has become a national reference in hospitality and culinary training, operating a unique learning environment that includes a Hotel School, Restaurant School, Chocolate Atelier, Bakery, Beauty Training Centre, and several social enterprises. Hundreds of young people have graduated from our programs and are now employed in leading hotels, restaurants, embassies, tourism businesses, and international hospitality establishments in Timor-Leste and overseas.
We are currently expanding our Vocational Education Department and are looking for two passionate Hospitality Trainers who are committed to developing the next generation of hospitality professionals.
This training program is proudly funded by the Nabilan Program – The Asia Foundation, with the generous support of the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).


POSITIONS AVAILABLE


2 Hospitality Trainers
Applicants may have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
* Culinary Arts
* Food & Beverage Service
* Hotel Operations
* Housekeeping
* Hospitality Operations

CONTRACT DETAILS
Start Date:
22 July 2026
Contract Duration:
Six (6) months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project continuation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


The successful candidates will:
* Deliver engaging theoretical and practical hospitality training.
* Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials and practical learning activities.
* Supervise students during practical sessions in the Hotel School and Restaurant School.
* Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
* Promote high standards of customer service, professionalism, hygiene and food safety.
* Support curriculum development and continuous improvement of training programs.
* Maintain attendance records and student assessments.
* Prepare brief reports when required.
* Work collaboratively with the Education Department to ensure quality vocational education.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should possess one or more of the following:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Tourism, Hotel Management, Education or a related field;
* A Technical or Vocational Qualification in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Hotel Operations, Food & Beverage or a related discipline;
* OR
* Significant professional experience (minimum five years) in the hospitality industry, demonstrating advanced practical knowledge and the ability to train and mentor others.
Candidates with extensive industry experience are strongly encouraged to apply, even if they do not hold a university degree.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Applicants should demonstrate:
* At least 5 years of professional experience in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Hotel Operations, Food & Beverage or a related field.
* Experience in hotels, restaurants, hospitality schools, vocational training centres or tourism businesses.
* Previous teaching, coaching, mentoring or supervising staff or trainees will be considered an advantage.
* Strong practical skills and the ability to transfer knowledge to students.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in Tetum.
Knowledge of English and/or Portuguese will be considered a strong advantage.
