About the Role

WFP Timor-Leste is seeking a qualified Programme Assistant to join the Social Protection team under its Country Strategic Plan (2026–2030).

Working in partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the INSPIRE project, the successful candidate will provide essential operational, logistical, and administrative support to advance national social protection, nutrition, and resilience initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational & Admin Support: Assist WFP and MSSI teams with routine implementation of activities, including the Bolsa de Mãe Kondisional SANUTRIO programme, national poverty frameworks, and capacity strengthening.

  • Planning & Tracking: Support activity scheduling, monitoring, and progress tracking using corporate tools; flag delays or issues to supervisors promptly.

  • Documentation & Translation: Help prepare, format, and update project manuals, guidelines, and tools. Provide translation/interpretation between English and Tetum.

  • Coordination & Events: Facilitate communication between MSSI, WFP, and development partners. Organize logistics for workshops, training sessions, and municipal coordination meetings.

  • Reporting & M&E: Assist in drafting inputs for progress reports, compiling monitoring data, taking meeting minutes, and documenting lessons learned.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in project management, coordination, or capacity-building roles with government institutions, international organizations, or development partners.

  • Education: Completion of Secondary School Education. (A post-secondary certificate in a related area is desirable).

  • Language Skills: Fluency (Level C) in English and Tetum. Knowledge of Portuguese is an added advantage.

  • Key Skills: Proven experience in official translation/communication (English/Tetum), event organization, multi-stakeholder project tracking, and basic data analysis.
